I can't remember anyone ever feeling more unified after a heated argument about politics.  In fact it can be hard to gain the trust of someone who knows you stand against things they're adamantly in support of.  But wanna know a sure-fire way to break through?  Help them.  Help them when they ask for it.  Help them when they don't.  Help them when it's convenient and especially when it isn't.  And if you are on your way to an important meeting and see a person standing in the rain about to change a flat tire on the side of the road, I promise that if you stop, stand in the rain with them and help with the situation, all of the trust issues you each had will wash away in the rain and you'll be laughing about it together for a long time to come.  

Inconvenient Opportunities Not To Miss:

• Changing a tire
• Jumping a dead battery
• Waiting with someone while their ride is on the way 
• Going by the waiting room while someone sits waiting for a loved one to have surgery
• Feeding animals when someone had to go out of town unexpectedly
• Mowing grass when someone is deployed with the military
• Mailing a cool gift to someone's child who broke their arm at school

Show up when it matters and your actions will speak so much louder than your words.
